The USA Ultimate Pro Championships will bring together 30 of the nation’s top pro teams to Montgomery County for the final event of the 2019 Triple Crown Tour this season!  Events will be held on Saturday and Sunday at the Hilltop Soccer Complex and on Monday at Germantown Academy, according to a press release.

Ultimate, originally known as ultimate frisbee, is a non-contact sport played with two teams and a flying disc.

USA Ultimate is the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States. Other events this year have been held in Colorado, Ohio, Minnesota, and Illinois.

Hosted by the Ultimate Planning Association, the event will feature the Elite Adult Ultimate Teams, the top half of last season’s national championship qualifiers, competing from across the country. More than 1,000 spectators are expected with an economic impact of $700,000, and the final day championships will be broadcasted on ESPN.

The Triple Crown Tour represents the highest level of competitive Ultimate in North America and features teams in three divisions: Men’s (est. 1979), Women’s (est. 1981), and Mixed (1998). Teams are split across four tiered flights: Pro, Elite, Select, and Classic.

The regular season consists of a series of summer USA Ultimate-sanctioned tournaments, including featured evens like the U.S. Open Championship, and Flight specific events. The post-season narrows more than 700 teams down to 16 in each division to compete for the National Championship.
