Developer plans to turn Elkins Estate into luxury boutique hotel

By

Landmark Developers recently purchased the 42-acre Elkins Estate in Elkins Park and is planning to turn the property into a luxury boutique hotel, writes Erin McCarthy for ThePhiladelphia Inquirer.

The plans call for a hotel with more than 100 rooms, a distillery, spa, and a restaurant. Numerous other amenities for guests and community members are also included.

“These hotels become a hub of activities,” said Frank Cretella, president of Landmark Developers. “I think the suburban markets need that.”

The decision to build a luxury boutique hotel at the property follows the trend of a number of similar successful endeavors in the Philadelphia suburbs.

And while the Elkins Park community does not boast the walkability of some of the other luxury hotels in the region, Cretella said he hopes guests will be able to find and enjoy all the amenities they need on site.

However, the new hotel still does not have a name, but Cretella said he can describe the energy visitors will find there.

“It needs to be a place people can go for experience,” he said.
