Ambler Savings Bank donated $6,000 through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) to help enhance Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programming in the Wissahickon School District. The grant will be used to support after-school STEM programs for elementary students and a STEM Summer Camp for students in grades 5 through 8.

The after-school enrichment program will provide fun, engaging tech programs designed to introduce the fundamentals of coding. The programs are geared towards mastering design thinking, problem-solving, computational thinking and communication skills through code in an engaging, fun and team-oriented environment. Through this grant, Wissahickon will be able to ensure the participation of students from underserved populations.

“We are excited about expanding our after-school and summer program opportunities to elevate learning in the areas of coding, collaborative problem solving, design and fabrication and STEM,” said Gary Abbamont, WSD Assistant Superintendent/Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

“We are excited to partner with the Wissahickon School District for the fourth year in a row,” said Roger Zacharia, President and CEO of Ambler Savings Bank. “Technology knowledge in all careers is expanding, and we at Ambler Savings Bank are honored to know that we have helped to expand and elevate STEM education to Wissahickon Middle School students.
