Centre Theater’s “Sinatra & Cigars” event on Friday, May 10, 7 to 10 p.m., will feature celebrity-
themed original paintings by local artist Peter Newitt of Audubon.

The event of the spring just got even bigger with the announcement of art exhibit, and it is open to all adults; cigars will only  be available outside.

In addition to butlered hors d’oeuvres, complimentary cognac, aromatic cigars and a live performance of Sinatra vocals by Tony Leodora, Newitt’s works to be shown include portraits of Billie Holliday, Louis Armstrong, Chuck Berry, Nina Simone, Samuel Clemens (aka Mark Twain, who performed at the theater in the 1870s), and “Old Blue Eyes” himself, Frank Sinatra, among others. Selected painting will be available for sale.

Newitt will be on hand to greet those in attendance as the event gets under way. He will also provide paintings to form a backdrop for the Allen Reynolds Band performance on Saturday, May, 11, at the theater, 208 DeKalb St., Norristown.
