Housing boom continues in King of Prussia

(Image courtesy of flickr.com) A major housing development project for 271 houses was proposed for King of Prussia, continuing the massive development of the area in recent years.

A major housing development has been proposed for King of Prussia on an 80-acre parcel of land. Development in the area is continuing at a rapid pace. It is believed to be one of the last large undeveloped properties in the area.

Glasgow Inc. owns the 80-acre property known as Glasgow Tract. The property is in a key location near Delkalb Pike, Ross Road, and Henderson Road. According to plans filed currently under review by Upper Merion, 65 single-family houses and 206 townhouses are proposed to be built, writes Natalie Kostelni for bizjournals.com.

The new development falls right in line with the growth that has been taking place in recent years. With a total of approximately one billion dollars being pumped into the development of King of Prussia, officials are hoping it becomes the suburban trifecta where people can live, work, and shop. Leo M. Ross Park is located within the property lines of Glasgow Tract, it would need to be relocated if the plans are approved to make room for the development. A pond also sits on the property, however it will be incorporated into the design of the development.

Glasgow Inc. is a heavy construction company and materials producer based in Glenside and founded in 1910. Glasgow is involved with multiple construction projects including the Roadway Resurfacing on the Pa. Turnpike. The company also produces materials for its projects. They have an asphalt plant off Flint Road and another on Church Road in King of Prussia.

The King of Prussia area has seen massive development in recent years. The construction of new apartments and 2,939 new multifamily units were added over the last five years, according to King of Prussia District. New projects have been brought to the area such as, a new Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia location and a new outpatient facility for Main Line Health. Developers are taking advantage of new mixed-use zoning rules for Moore Park, the King of Prussia area will continue to see more growth and development in years to come.
