A new upscale consignment shop located in Norristown offers customers more than just great deals on brand name apparel. It also offers household items, home goods and accessories, toys, games, vintage and collectibles – you name it. Owned by Montgomery County resident Amy Tahtabrounian, Amy’s Attic extends clients shopping perks unique to the resale industry.

Although Amy’s Attic is named after the owner, it is a family endeavor, according to a press release.

The building where Amy’s Attic is located is owned jointly by Tahtabrounian and her husband, John Tahtabrounian. Her  sisters, Rebecca Steltz and Doreen Holmgren, both assist in the store. And Amy and John’s eldest son, Oliver, gives a hand when available, according to a press release.

“We own the buildings where we house our architecture, interior design and construction businesses. The first-floor retail space of one of the buildings was a natural fit for a consignment shop,” Amy Tahtabrounian said. “In addition, we are great shoppers and love to repurpose. We are discouraged by things ending up in landfills and are committed to refurbish and repurpose items that are of good quality and can find a new home at affordable prices. There are unique items passing through our doors daily and we saw an opportunity to offer them back to the market.”

Amy’s Attic deals in brand-name and designer-label apparel, handbags, shoes, and accessories for women, men and children, as well as household items, home goods and accessories, toys, games, vintage and collectibles.  It offers a generous customer loyalty program, free personal styling services, gift certificates, and additional discount days that aren’t found in most consignment stores. In addition, customers can plan private shopping parties at the boutique, where they get to enjoy a shopping experience all to themselves, along with purchase discounts.

“Delivering quality merchandise at great values, and exceptional service with a personal touch to everyone that comes through our doors is an integral part of our mission,” Tahtabrounian said. “Customers are encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions and we implement whenever it fits with the business.

“We are very selective about the items we accept for consignment,” she continued. “The labels we carry cost up to 80 percent more when purchased in department stores. Consignment makes it possible for all to purchase a special new, unused or ‘like new’ gift or personal item at very affordable prices. These are treasures.”

Amy’s Attic consigns on behalf of customers rather than buying outright. This means more money in the pocket of consignors when the item sells. Consignors choose between a cash payout or store credit. Consignments are accepted during normal business hours Monday through Friday 10-2, and winter hours of Monday through Friday 10-5. No appointment needed.

Amy’s Attic is located at 412 DeKalb St., just a half block north of Main Street, Norristown.
