Conshohocken Electric Force Track Club’s athletes and coaches have had a stellar summer, with several top finishes and a number of personal records, writes M. English for The Colonial.

The two-decade-old club has helped hundreds of children participate in its activities over the years. In fact, close to 100 youths learned track and field techniques in just its 2016-17 developmental season alone.

Among this summer’s achievements, 15 members of the CEFTC’s travel team qualified for the National Junior Olympics in Ypsilanti that were held from July 31 to August 5.

Among the medal winners there were Julian McFadden with first place for 11-year-old boys in the 400 meters. Meanwhile Tori Okorodudu placed third in the long jump, fifth in the 200 meters, and sixth in the 100 meters.

The CEFTC athletes also achieved a number of personal best and won several top eight places at United Age Group Track Coaches Association’s Youth Invitational at Widener University in Chester in July.

However win or lose, sponsors and volunteers at the club emphasize all the positives that come from being a member.

“Basically, track is the foundation of all sports,” said Gloria Scott, one of the coaches.
