IKEA U.S., which has its U.S. headquarters in Conshohocken, has created the community donation program ‘5,000 Dreams’ to welcome refugees arriving in nearby communities.
Lavinia Limon, President and CEO of U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, said IKEA is setting an example for businesses and governments around the world to do all in their power to help those who have been uprooted from their homes.

Through the program, IKEA provides beds and bedding to help the recent arrivals feel at home in their new community.
To ensure success, IKEA has partnered with three key refugee organizations: the International Rescue Committee, U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants and the Ethiopian Community Development Council.
“IKEA is committed to creating a better everyday life and that includes respecting the basic human rights of every individual,” said Evamay Lawson, IKEA’s U.S. Community Relations Manager.
Lawson added that the company is proud that it can make a difference for refugee families in its communities by donating beds and bedding to help them “make their new homes comfortable with a good night’s sleep.”
