Lansdale and SEPTA officials marked the official opening of the transportation agency’s new parking garage with a ribbon cutting ceremony last Friday, writes Dan Sokil for North Penn Life.
“The Lansdale parking garage represents a bridge to future development, literally and figuratively,” said SEPTA General Manager, Jeff Knueppel.
The five-storey garage has been under construction for the last two years. It includes 680 parking spaces that have been available to customers since April 17. The ribbon cutting ceremony, that was held five days later, made the opening official.

“By creating additional parking capacity within the footprint of our station, we can make SEPTA access easier for riders who use their car first as part of their commute,” said Knueppel.
The garage, which cost $42 million, was mostly empty during the ribbon cutting ceremony on April 21. The LED counter by the entrance showed around 500 spaces available for incoming drivers.
Montgomery County Commissioners chair Val Arkoosh said its proximity to downtown Lansdale was among the reasons the county contributed nearly $1 million to the project.
“It’s the third-busiest SEPTA rail station in the Philadelphia suburbs, so it’s great to have this new asset here,” said Arkoosh.
