Penn State officially kicked off its fifth Coaches Caravan on May 8 by bringing its star lineup of coaches to King of Prussia for the first events of its four day tour, writes Arielle Sargent for The Penn State Athletics Blog.

After visiting Penn State York earlier in the day, Langhorne native and Lion’s head coach, James Franklin, was joined by director of athletics, Sandy Barbour, men’s gymnastics coach, Randy Jepson, and women’s golf coach, Denise St. Pierre, at Valley Forge Casino.

The gathered crowd got to enjoy anecdotes from the coaches and the chance to share their own memories. One fan recalled playing against St. Pierre when she shot 15-under-par.

“You asked if we minded playing with a woman and we ended up playing with a champ,” said the fan.

Finally Franklin closed out the evening with an emotional message.

“I am so proud to be the head football coach at Penn State,” he said. “To have the opportunity to come back home to represent you, to represent the great state of Pennsylvania and to continue our journey with our legacy of the program, is unbelievable to me.”
