A $1.1 billion Montgomery County infrastructure project is on the list of requests that Governor Wolf has submitted to the new administration for funding, writes Eleanor Klibanoff for Keystone Crossroads.

During his campaign, Trump promised to reduce the country’s $4 trillion infrastructural deficit through a $1 trillion spending plan that would improve the nation’s bridges, roads, public transit, and waterways.

While the debate is ongoing over where those funds would come from and when they will be available, the National Governors Association has submitted a list of 428 infrastructure projects that would be ready to use part of this promised funding.

Pennsylvania’s requests include a little under $800 million for highway and transit improvements in addition to a $1.1 billion project for a high-speed rail link in Montgomery County.

The latter is asking for the design and construction of the railway that would extend the Norristown High Speed Line to King of Prussia in Montgomery County.

According to J.J. Abbott, Wolf’s spokesperson, the proposed projects are an initial list of requests that is not comprehensive and will likely change by the time a formal request to the administration is made.
