Renee Maloney, cofounder and CFO of Painting with a Twist visited the company's Royersford Franchise.

The hit TV show Undercover Boss recently came to help the founder of a Louisiana based franchise get a new perspective by examining its Montgomery County operation, writes Kenneth Hilario for Philadelphia Business Journal.

Renee Maloney, cofounder and CFO of Painting with a Twist, got the chance during the shows’ production to better understand the details of its franchise operation. The episode focuses on the outlet run by Steve Barzousky and his wife Karina at 70 Buckwalter Road in Royersford.

During the episode which aired on January 4, Barzousky teaches Maloney what it really takes to own and operate a Painting with a Twist studio.

To help with this, Maloney had to get involved in all aspects of the business including taking on the roles of art instructor, studio manager, warehouse supervisor and franchisee. This has now given her new ideas on how to improve the business.

“It was an opportunity to see it through franchisees’ eyes and through customers’ eyes,” said Maloney. “We were working on a way to acknowledge the artists, but we couldn’t put a finger on it.”
