Montgomery County got an unexpected mention in the latest Marvel series, Daredevil: Born Again, which premiered last night on Disney+.
In the second episode, the show’s infamous villain, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk—better known as Kingpin—gives a nod to King of Prussia while delivering one of his signature veiled threats.
During a tense conversation with outgoing NYPD Police Chief Gallo, Fisk, now the newly appointed Mayor of New York City, shares that his favorite Philly cheesesteak isn’t from Philadelphia at all, but from a fictional King of Prussia restaurant called D’Angelo’s. While the comment initially seems innocent, it quickly becomes clear that Fisk is using it to send a chilling message about his power and reach, subtly threatening Gallo’s family.
Adding an ironic twist, once Gallo exits the room, Fisk admits he didn’t actually like the sandwich.
While Daredevil: Born Again may be set in the gritty streets of New York City, it’s fun to see Montgomery County sneak into the Marvel Cinematic Universe—even if it’s through the words of a notorious villain.
