Allied Universal, with headquarters in both Conshohocken and Santa Ana, is on its way to becoming the next public company in the Greater Philadelphia, writes Alison Burdo for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Allied Universal was formed last month after the merger of Conshohocken’s Allied Barton and California’s Universal Services of America. This made the newly formed company of 140,000 employees the largest provider of security services in the country.

Around 2,000 of those employees are based out of Conshohocken with more to come, said Allied Universal CEO Steve Jones.

“You’re going to see hiring of some national account executive teams out of Conshohocken,” he said. “We are going to be expanding our security teams and technology division in the Philadelphia marketplace.”

Jones added that, while there will be some consolidation, the changes will come with a net gain of jobs in Conshohocken in the short-term and more further down the line.

“It is our goal to build a lasting company that goes forward for generations to come,” he said. “In order to really do that with private equity partners, eventually we’d have to go public.”
