BartonPartners has rallied support for Habitat for Humanity, which recently broke ground for affordable townhouses in Bridgeport.

Renowned Norristown design firm BartonPartners has once again taken up the mantle of encouraging local businesses to support Habitat for Humanity Montgomery County, writes Gary Puleo for the Times Herald.

Due to the low-income housing crisis, more than 6,000 Montgomery County residents are currently living in sub-standard housing. This is why the organization has been fundraising to construct four affordable townhomes in Bridgeport.

Groundbreaking for the townhomes took place on May 14 at the corner of Ford and Green Streets in Bridgeport.

This is the first time the Montgomery County branch of the nonprofit is building four townhomes from the ground up, to provide several fortunate homeowners with a true upgrade they would not be able to afford otherwise.

“Families who don’t have stable housing often enter shelters. Their kids often have trouble in school, there is greater absenteeism at work, and communities have to invest more into managing a crisis rather than creating solutions,” noted Marianne Lynch, Executive Director of Habitat of Montco. “I believe that everyone can help provide solutions in some small way.”

The townhomes in Bridgeport is the latest project to come from the coordination between BartonPartners and Habitat for Humanity Montgomery County to help those in need. Over the past eight years, they have also worked together to develop designs and documentation for single and twin-family products in Upper Dublin and a twin in Hatfield.
