General Motors has recognized Lansdale-based SKF, a global manufacturer of bearings, seals, and lubrication, as a 2020 Supplier of the Year, according to a staff report from My ChesCo.

This is the ninth time the local manufacturer has been recognized with this award that highlights the top suppliers from 16 countries that have exceeded GM’s requirements and provided the company’s customers with innovative and highest quality technologies.

“We’re grateful to be recognized again by GM as a Supplier of the Year and for the continued partnership with them as a customer,” said Greg Zimmerman, President of SKF Automotive North America.

SKF has been providing its world-class bearing and seal technologies for GM vehicles for more than seven decades and more recently started supplying the company with bearings and seals for its all-electric vehicles.

Additionally, “SKF stepped up to the GM challenge to supply bearings used in building ventilators as part of the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Zimmerman.

The winners of the Supplier of the Year award are chosen by a global team of GM purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and logistics executives based on performance criteria in several categories, including Product Purchasing and Customer Care, and Aftersales.
