A Montgomery County accounting firm built across three generations of one family is now part of a national powerhouse. Its leaders say the move is about what comes next for clients, according to Jeff Blumenthal for The Philadelphia Business Journal.
Isdaner & Co., the Bala Cynwyd firm that Irving and Larry Isdaner founded together in 1967, was acquired by Atlanta-based Aprio effective June 1. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Nearly Six Decades of Independence
The deal caps a decades-long run as one of the Philadelphia region’s rare independently owned accounting firms. Scott Isdaner, Larry’s son, joined the firm in 1986 and has led it as managing partner since 2002. He will continue in that role under Aprio’s umbrella. He brings with him a team of 10 partners and more than 70 professionals, all based in Bala Cynwyd.
What the Deal Means for Clients
For Scott Isdaner, the appeal was not just scale. It was what that scale unlocks for the people his firm has served for generations.
“Aprio expands what we can bring to every client,” he said. “Whether they are growing, planning a transition, or thinking about the next generation, they now have access to a platform built for what they need.”
A National Firm With Local Ambitions
Aprio, led by CEO Richard Kopelman, ranks as the 20th largest accounting and advisory firm in the country. It has been on an aggressive acquisition run, adding firms in Washington, D.C., Boston, Chicago, Denver, Phoenix, Portland and beyond. The Isdaner deal is the firm’s sixth acquisition of 2026 alone.
Aprio has been building its Philadelphia footprint deliberately. The firm recently brought on Max Heller, a former Centri Business Consulting partner, as its Philadelphia market growth leader and Northeast transaction advisory services leader.
Rooted Locally, Reaching Nationally
For Bala Cynwyd, the deal means one of its most established professional-services names stays rooted locally while gaining the reach of a firm that now serves clients in more than 50 countries.
