Asplundh Tree Expert has officially opened its new international headquarters in Horsham Township, writes Ryan Genova for Glenside Local.
This marks the latest chapter for one of Montco’s most prominent private companies.
The family-owned company recently celebrated the opening of its new 120,000-square-foot facility at 680 Blair Mill Road with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
From Willow Grove to Horsham
The move comes after Asplundh announced in September 2025 that its longtime headquarters at 708 Blair Mill Road in Upper Moreland Township had been listed for sale.
That property had served as the company’s corporate home since 1974. The new Horsham headquarters gives Asplundh a larger and more modern workplace for more than 400 local employees who support the company’s operations across the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Jeff Mack, executive managing director at Newmark, represented Asplundh in the lease negotiation. He called it “one of the largest office leases completed this year in the Philadelphia area.”
Tony Nichols, SVP of leasing at Workspace Property Trust, which owns the new building, said the company is “proud to provide a headquarters space that is close to home.”
The Horsham building had sat largely vacant for about a decade. Workspace Property Trust acquired the property in 2015. Most recently, it served as office space for UnitedHealthcare before being renovated for Asplundh’s arrival.
Asplundh’s former Willow Grove building, a 93,692-square-foot property on 13 acres, is being marketed by Newmark as a redevelopment opportunity suited for industrial, office, residential or medical use.
A Family Business With Global Reach
Founded in 1928, Asplundh specializes in tree pruning, vegetation management, and utility line-clearance work. It services utilities, government agencies and other infrastructure clients.
What began as a local tree-trimming business has grown into an international utility services company with more than 36,000 employees.
Asplundh’s international expansion began to accelerate in the 1980s, including growth in Canada and its first overseas line-clearance contract in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 1986.
By the early 1990s, the company had expanded into New Zealand, Australia, France and the United Kingdom. Later, it narrowed its international focus to Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Recent Momentum for Asplundh
The headquarters move follows a period of broader corporate momentum. Asplundh was named to Forbes’ list of America’s top private companies in December 2025. It ranked #97 with $6.3 billion in annual revenue.
In January, Asplundh Infrastructure Group promoted Dennis MacAleese to chief operating officer.
In May, the company introduced a co-president leadership structure, appointing George E. Graham Jr. and David A. Fleischner to the newly created roles.
The new headquarters keeps one of Montgomery County’s largest private employers rooted firmly in the region even as its operations span the globe.
