Before her bestselling beach novels became streaming hits, Elin Hilderbrand was growing up in Collegeville, writes Kristin Hunt for The Philly Voice.
Now, the Methacton High School alumna has another story making its way to television.
Peacock’s adaptation of Hilderbrand’s 2023 novel The Five-Star Weekend premieres July 9. The eight-episode drama stars Jennifer Garner, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, Gemma Chan, and Timothy Olyphant.
The story follows a grieving widow who reunites with close friends from different chapters of her life during a getaway weekend in Nantucket. While the premise sounds light and beachy on the surface, the series quickly leans into deeper emotional drama, personal secrets, and complicated relationships.
The adaptation marks the second major streaming success connected to Hilderbrand’s work. Netflix’s The Perfect Couple helped introduce her signature Nantucket-centered storytelling style to a broader television audience in 2024.
Although Hilderbrand eventually became closely associated with Nantucket and Cape Cod, her roots trace back to Montgomery County.
The Collegeville native has gone on to become one of the country’s most recognizable authors in the “summer read” genre, publishing nearly 30 novels throughout her career.
