For a widowed mother of four, a crumbling front walkway wasn’t just an eyesore. It was a safety hazard she had no way to fix on her own.
Then she connected with the Willow Charitable Fund, and within 48 hours, help was on the way.
That’s how WCF operates. No lengthy applications, no long waits. When a neighbor is in crisis, the Willow Charitable Fund moves fast, often providing emergency funding grants within two days of a request.
Since its founding, the charity has helped thousands of individuals and families across Upper Moreland and surrounding communities.
Founded 55 years ago, WCF grew out of a simple idea: neighbors helping neighbors.
What began as a fundraising effort to support the local Second Alarmers Rescue Squad has grown into a full-service emergency relief charity, partnering with local churches, social workers, hospitals, and elected officials to connect families with the help they need.
Over the years, WCF has covered mortgage payments, heating bills, medical equipment, food, and more. Through a partnership with a local Rotary Club, a child with disabilities received a motorized wheelchair that changed their daily life.
Along with supporting families directly, the charity has also provided grants to the congregations it works closely with, including Willow Grove Baptist Church, Lehman Memorial Methodist Church, and St. John’s Church, allowing them to restock their food pantries to further support the community.
“The Willow Charitable Fund works to bridge the gap for individuals experiencing difficult times, providing assistance quickly,” Chairman of the Board John L. DiMarzio said. “This support is designed to offer a hand up, not just a handout, ensuring that neighbors receive the help they need when they need it most.”
WCF funds its work through its annual Golf Outing and The Taste events, which also serve as an opportunity for community members to meet and form lasting connections, all while serving a good cause.
