A Glenside record shop is giving music fans a unique way to celebrate a Philadelphia radio legend, writes Dan DeLuca for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Vinyl Chickie will host a special sale featuring the personal record collection of longtime WMMR DJ Pierre Robert.
The collection includes hundreds of vinyl records and CDs and will be sold piece by piece. The sale takes place during Record Store Day weekend. Each item will be marked as part of Robert’s collection, offering fans a chance to own a piece of local music history.
Vinyl Chickie is a small but growing shop just steps from the Glenside train station. The shop opened last year and has quickly built a following among local music lovers. Owner Lisa Schaffer, a longtime photographer in the Philly music scene, said the opportunity to handle Robert’s collection was both meaningful and emotional.
The event is expected to draw a crowd, with rare finds, signed albums, and unique memorabilia available alongside food trucks and local coffee. Purchases will be limited to ensure more fans have access to the collection.
