Montgomery County’s Valley Forge Revolutionary Run hit a major milestone this year, celebrating its 20th year with both a strong turnout and record fundraising, writes The Times Herald.
The event held at Valley Forge National Historical Park brought together more than 1,500 runners and walkers from 23 states and even the Netherlands. The run was organized by the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board and raised more than $100,000 to support the park.
Participants took part in either a 5-mile race or a 2-mile walk. The day also featured vendors, food trucks, and live entertainment. Sponsors included Elmwood Park Zoo, adding a local touch to the large-scale event.
Organizers say 100 percent of proceeds go directly back to the park, helping fund shuttle services for the Fourth of July weekend, support upcoming 50th anniversary celebrations, and contribute to summer programming. Since its launch in 2006, the event has generated roughly $800,000 for park improvements and visitor experiences.
With participation and impact continuing to grow, the Rev Run remains a powerful example of community support for one of Montgomery County’s most treasured landmarks.
