Lansdale Teen Launches Initiative to Promote Confidence and Skin Health

A North Penn student launched SkinHOPE Initiative to raise awareness about skin conditions and promote confidence and self-acceptance.

A North Penn High School student is turning a personal challenge into a message of confidence and community for others across Montgomery County, writes Matteo Iadonisi for 6ABC Action News.

Casey Kim founded the SkinHope Initiative, a student-led nonprofit focused on raising awareness about skin conditions and promoting self-acceptance.

Kim has dealt with eczema since childhood. She says the experience impacted her confidence growing up. As she began to better manage her condition in her early teens, she found a new purpose: helping others feel comfortable in their own skin.

Launched in late 2024, the SkinHOPE Initiative organizes school outreach, donation drives, and community efforts aimed at supporting those with skin conditions. The group has donated hundreds of handwritten cards to hospital patients and collected more than 100 skincare products for local organizations.

Made up primarily of North Penn students, the initiative also collaborates with peers beyond Pennsylvania, reflecting its growing reach.

SkinHope reminds others that “all skin is beautiful skin” and that self-acceptance can start with small steps.
