Montgomery County’s beloved Philadelphia Folk Festival is gearing up for another summer, with the first wave of performers announced for its 63rd year, writes Dan DeLuca for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
This year’s festival will take place August 14–16 at the Old Pool Farm in Schwenksville, with the traditional campers-only kickoff show on August 13. Headlining the initial lineup is Colorado-based jam band Leftover Salmon, touring behind their latest album.
The early bill also features a mix of folk, blues, and roots talent, including veteran performer Tom Rush, acclaimed songwriter Mary Gauthier, and rising blues-rock artist Eddie 9V. Other notable acts include Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience, acoustic group Big Richard, and Celtic ensemble Runa.
The festival will also showcase regional talent, with Philadelphia-based songwriter John Flynn returning as host and performer, continuing a long-standing tradition of local ties at the event.
More artists are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, with early bird tickets already available.
