Montgomery County colleges have lined up prominent speakers for this year’s commencement ceremonies, which will include a civil rights icon and a former news anchor, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Bryn Mawr College has invited civil rights activist Ruby Bridges to speak at its undergraduate commencement ceremony. She is the first Black student to integrate an all-white elementary school at age 6 in Louisiana. Graduate students will hear from Annette Gordon-Reed, the first Black author to win a Pulitzer Prize in history.
At its May 22 commencement ceremony, Ursinus College will welcome former NBC10 anchor and full-time speaker Tracy Davidson as the speaker for graduates.
Bayada Home Health Care founders Mark and Ann Baiada will address graduates at Manor College’s May 14 ceremony.
Rosemont College will welcome Pennsylvania Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward as its commencement speaker at its May 14 ceremony ahead of its upcoming merger with Villanova University. Ward is the representative of Pennsylvania’s 39th district in Westmoreland County.
Meanwhile, Villanova University will be welcoming Craig Melvin, co-host of NBC’s Today show, as the speaker for its May 17 ceremony.
