Kibitz Room Closes in King of Prussia After Just One Year

The Kibitz Room in King of Prussia has closed after one year, with mounting debts and eviction ending its run in Montco.

A short-lived restaurant venture in King of Prussia has officially come to an end, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Kibitz Room, a full-service Jewish deli and restaurant that opened last year, has been evicted from its Route 202 location.

The closure comes less than a year after the restaurant launched with an ambitious concept, featuring multiple dining rooms, a party space, and a retail deli counter. However, the operation struggled to build the customer base needed to sustain the larger footprint, ultimately leading to significant financial challenges.

Court records show the King of Prussia location faced mounting debts, including unpaid rent and outstanding balances with vendors and tax authorities. The situation culminated in an eviction after a judgment of more than $194,000, effectively ending the restaurant’s run in Montgomery County.

The Kibitz Room brand itself isn’t disappearing entirely. Ownership is now shifting focus back to its original Cherry Hill location. The New Jersey location will reopen under new management following bankruptcy proceedings.

While the KOP location aimed to expand beyond traditional deli roots, its operators say the business ultimately strayed from what made it successful in the first place.
