Two Philadelphia Catholic Schools Receive Seven-Figure Donations

Roman Catholic and Father Judge high schools were both recently awarded seven-figure donations, as part of a growing trend of record gifts to local private schools.

Father Judge High School and Roman Catholic High School were recently awarded seven-figure donations, which is part of a growing trend of record gifts to local private schools since early last year, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Father Judge High School received $1.5 million from James Brady and Stephen Stines, with the funds earmarked for renovations to the school’s biology laboratory in Northeast Philadelphia.

A Father Judge alumnus, Brady is a retired pharmaceutical executive. His gift will rename the laboratory to honor his parents, Catherine and Francis Brady, and will also be used to establish a new scholarship fund.

“Father Judge High School has long been a cornerstone of opportunity in Philadelphia and strengthening it for future generations has never been more important,” he said.

Meanwhile, Roman Catholic High School received $1 million, supplementing a recent $10 million gift from developer Daniel DiLella for a major expansion at the North Broad Street campus that will include a new 28,000-square-foot Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics Center.

The anonymous gift also comes after a $1 million contribution in February from Marguerite and alumnus Joseph DiSepio, an executive at Amboy Bank.
