Kutztown University continues to build on its commitment to those who served, earning national recognition in the process.

Kutztown University has been named a 2026 to 2027 Military Friendly School and earned Gold status. The designation reflects how well KU supports veterans, service members, and military families from enrollment through career placement.

More than 3,200 organizations took part in the evaluation. Final scores combine survey responses, public data, and performance across recruitment, retention, academic progress, graduation rates, and career outcomes.

“Earning the Military Friendly designation is more than a badge of honor; it is a reflection of an institution’s deep-rooted values and strategic commitment to those who served. These schools don’t just open doors for veterans and military spouses, they build sustainable pathways for academic success and long-term impact. Their support is transformative, proving that investing in military-connected students is both a moral imperative and a standard for educational excellence,” said Kayla Lopez.

At Kutztown, that commitment shows up in day-to-day support.

The university operates a dedicated Military and Veterans Services Office and assigns a single point of contact to guide students through benefits, academics, and career planning. KU awards credit for military training, accepts CLEP and DANTES scores, and offers Army ROTC.

Support extends across campus. Veterans’ liaisons are embedded in key offices. Faculty and staff complete sensitivity training. An advisory board meets regularly to strengthen veteran-focused policies.

Each fall, KU brings its community together for Veterans Awareness and Appreciation Week. Its student veteran organization also leads programs and service efforts that connect campus and community.

Kutztown University will be featured in the 2026 to 2027 Guide to Military Friendly Schools in the April issue of G.I. Jobs magazine and on MilitaryFriendly.com.
