Mani Sajid’s Relentless Work Ethic Makes Him Plymouth Whitemarsh’s All-Time Scoring Leader

Mani Sajid's relentless work ethic propels him into Plymouth Whitemarsh High School basketball program's all-time leading scorer.

Mani Sajid’s relentless work ethic has propelled him into Plymouth Whitemarsh High School basketball program’s all-time leading scorer, writes Owen Hewitt for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Sajid’s drive is so intense that coach Jim Donofrio had to convince him to rest for a single day. The 6-foot-4 senior shooting guard led the team to a 19-5 record while claiming the top seed in the District 1 Class 6A tournament.

Sajid ended the regular season with 1,686 points, setting a new record for the school, and has committed to Towson University, where he will enroll early. Donofrio said that his college coaches will be fortunate if they can ever get him to leave the gym.

“His natural work ethic is as high as any kid I’ve coached in 35 years,” said Donofrio.

Even after becoming the program’s all-time scoring leader, Sajid is focused on achieving success in the postseason.

“I did have a chance for the scoring record, but that wasn’t my main goal,” he said. “That just came as we played. [We are] just trying to win everything. Districts and state titles are our main goal as a team and the main goal for me.”
