Main Line Health Posts $8.7 Million Operating Profit, Boosted by Patient Volume Increase

Main Line Health posts strong increases in revenue and patient visits, resulting in an $8.7 million profit for the first half of fiscal 2026.

Main Line Health has posted strong increases in revenue and patient visits, resulting in an $8.7 million operating profit for the first half of fiscal 2026, writes Harold Brubaker for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The health system turned around from an $8.9 million loss in the same period a year ago, thanks to an accounting change in depreciation that reduced expenses. Without the adjustment, the latest report could have reflected another loss.

“We have been pleased with our continued improvement in fiscal performance year over year, which has been strong outside of the change in depreciation,” said Main Line’s chief financial officer, Leigh Ehrlich.

The health system posted $1.35 billion in patient revenue during that period, which is a 10.5 percent increase over the $1.22 billion it generated in the prior year. These gains were supported by strong growth in hospital discharges, emergency department visits, and same-day surgeries. Main Line’s Riddle Hospital near Media ended up with one of the largest increases, with a 36 percent rise in patients following the closure of Crozer Health’s hospitals last spring.
