Vacant King of Prussia Office Building Could Make Way for Amazon Warehouse

Amazon plans on tearing down a vacant 260,000-square-foot office building in King of Prussia and then construct a new 99,300-square-foot warehouse in its place, writes Paul Schwedelson for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The proposed last-mile delivery station would be located at 760 Moore Road, roughly a half-mile from Route 422 and close to both I-276 and I-76, and would handle deliveries throughout Montgomery and Chester counties.

According to Upper Merion Township Planning OfficerJarrett Lash, the e-commerce giant plans to operate its electric-vehicle fleet from the warehouse.

Amazon acquired the property in June 2021 for $26.5 million from E. Kahn Development, which had bought it just two months before for $24 million from BNY Mellon.

The bank had kept the building as an operations center for close to 20 years.

Amazon had not made any public plans for the property prior to this.

The warehouse proposal appeared before the Upper Merion Township Planning Commission in January, and the commission required further review by township engineers before it could make a determination.

The date for the Planning Commission’s next review of the proposal has not yet been scheduled.
