North Wales Borough Teams With Valley Forge Tourism for 250th Anniversary Push

North Wales partnered with Visit Valley Forge tourism to publicize the town’s activities for the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding.

North Wales partnered with Visit Valley Forge, a nonprofit that promotes regional events, to help publicize the town’s activities for the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding, writes Dan Sokil for The Reporter.

The proposed events include a reading of the Declaration of Independence in town on Independence Day.

“It will be just as it was back in the day – people reading it, all throughout the area,” said borough Manager Christine Hart.

Members of Visit Valley Forge, also known as the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board, began meeting with members of the North Wales Community Project Alliance, the group that was responsible for organizing the town’s annual July 4 parade, last month. Together, they have developed a detailed to-do list and are now finalizing plans for the Declaration of Independence reading. Visit Valley Forge members will also visit the town’s Arts and Cultural Center to consider it as a potential location for anniversary-themed events.

“They’re very interested,” said Hart. “We’ve asked for a speaker series to take place there throughout the year about history, and they said they want to get it on their tourism site.”
