Four Montgomery County Pizza Spots Among Best Newcomers in Philadelphia Region

This year has brought new energy to the Philadelphia region pizza scene, with several newcomers serving standout slices and pies, including four locations in Montgomery County, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Anomalia Pizza in Fort Washington is famous locally for its “drunken grandma,” crispy squares topped with fresh mozzarella and drizzled with a creamy vodka sauce enhanced with pancetta. Other popular items include a mozzarella stick served in sandwich form.

For some of the best Roma pizzas nearby, visit Apizzeria 888 by Sebastian in Elkins Park. Each pizza is crafted with two types of aged cheese, lightly sweet tomato basil sauce spread on top, and perfectly firm crust.

In Bala Cynwyd, Classic Pizza offers a variety of New York style pizzas, including thick Sicilians, crispy rectangular grandmas, and thin, crisp round pies. Paul Brancale, a pizzaiolo from Staten Island, crafts his own fresh mozzarella from curds.

Eataly in King of Prussia is a large Italian emporium with a full service restaurant, La Pizza & La Pasta, where classic Neapolitan pies are served in an elegant setting. Roman style pizzas can be enjoyed by the slice at the marketplace counter.
