Mental health care is getting a boost with the new in-house Psychiatry Residency Program at Bryn Mawr Hospital, writes Timothy Alexander for MyChesCo.
The new suite brings psychiatry residents together with psychology and psychotherapy services under one roof. Health system leaders say the centralized setup is designed to strengthen collaboration, enhance education, and expand patient access to much-needed mental health care across the Main Line.
The expansion follows the transition of psychiatry residents to Main Line Health after the closure of Crozer Health. By consolidating services in Bryn Mawr, the program creates a more cohesive training environment while increasing appointment availability for patients seeking outpatient psychiatric care.
The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education–accredited residency program emphasizes hands-on experience rooted in community needs. Residents rotate through inpatient and outpatient settings, with specialized training in areas including addiction psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, and consultation-liaison services.
Led by Program Director Brittni Jones, DO, the new suite is staffed by eight psychologists and psychotherapists and five resident psychiatrists. The space officially opened December 8 and is now accepting new patients, marking another step in Main Line Health’s efforts to meet rising demand for mental health services close to home.
