For anyone observing Dry January or aiming to limit alcohol intake, Wallace Dry Goods in Suburban Square provides the perfect experience.

For anyone observing Dry January or aiming to limit alcohol intake, Wallace Dry Goods in Suburban Square provides the perfect experience, writes Tamala Edwards for 6abc.

This stylish spot provides an assortment of alcohol-free options, including beer, wine, bubbly drinks, and creative cocktails.

Robin Cummiskey, the owner, said that the quality of alcohol-free drinks has been rising dramatically in the last several years.

“You can have one alcoholic cocktail,” she said. “You want to keep drinking, but you don’t want to have the headache the next day. You can switch to the non-alcoholic. It really is a choose-your-own-adventure.”

Although some drinkers fear that giving up alcohol sacrifices the ritual and layered flavors of cocktails, Cummiskey emphasized that the non-alcoholic versions can deliver the same satisfying taste.

Margaritas are a local favorite, made by Cummiskey using Free Spirit, a non-alcoholic tequila she created available in blanco, reposado, and mezcal.

“With any of our spirits, on their own they’re going to taste like a herby spicy water, but in the context of a drink, you make a margarita, you make a gin and tonic, that’s where the flavors come together and shine,” she said.
