The Devon Senior Living has been purchased by Juniper Communities, a North Jersey-based operator of senior living facilities, for an undisclosed sum, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The property was sold by AlerisLife, based in Massachusetts, which acquired the Chester County community in 2008 for $4.65 million. The company stated earlier this year that it was planning to sell the assets while winding down operations.
The property spans 90,865 square feet and offers 65 personal care apartments along with 13 secured memory care apartments. First built in 1892 as the Eliza Cathcart Home, it expanded with the Hutchinson Wing in 1896 and grew to its current scale through upgrades that were completed over the following century.
The property sits on what was once a 40-acre farm.
Earlier this year, Five Star Quality Care, the operating division of AlerisLife, completed a comprehensive renovation of the senior living community, which included refreshing the furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
The new owner has now rebranded the location, housed in a mansion on a garden-estate property, as Juniper Village at Devon.
“It essentially got a facelift,” said Lynne S. Katzmann, Juniper’s founder and CEO.
