State and local officials recently joined community supporters to celebrate the opening of Federation Housing’s newest senior living community, the Daniel B. Green House. The 60-unit community in Trevose will help address the Philadelphia region’s growing demand for affordable housing for older adults.
Dedicated to providing housing for individuals who meet low-income housing requirements, the community will allow older adults to remain close to family, friends, and neighborhood staples without fear of being priced out of their community.
“The senior population deserves to age with dignity in the communities they’ve helped shape, regardless of their financial circumstances,” said Eric Naftulin, Executive Vice President of Federation Housing. “The Daniel B. Green House reflects our commitment to expand access to affordable, high-quality housing and enrich our relationship with the greater Trevose community.”
The community is named in honor of Daniel B. Green, the late Chairman of Firstrust Bank, local philanthropist, and one of the founding board members of Federation Housing. It is the third Federation Housing community dedicated to the Green family, joining the Samuel A. Green House and the Florence E. Green House, and continues the family’s longstanding commitment to affordable senior housing and community betterment. The Daniel B. Green House shares a campus with the Florence E. Green House, named after Green’s late wife.
“My father’s lifelong commitment to helping others continues to inspire our family and the organizations he served,” said Richard Green, Executive Chairman and Owner of Firstrust Bank, trustee of the Green Family Foundation, and board member of Federation Housing. “The Daniel B. Green House stands as both a tribute to his compassion and a tangible solution for seniors who deserve the dignity of a safe and affordable home. Seeing my parents’ legacies honored side by side — through the Florence E. Green House and the Daniel B. Green House — is deeply meaningful for our family and reflects Federation Housing’s enduring mission to serve the community.”
In Bucks County, the housing market is continuing its upward trend, with affordable housing options being severely limited. According to the Bucks County Association of Realtors, the median sold price for residential properties in September was $510,000, which is 6.3 percent higher than last September.
The Daniel B. Green House was made possible through the support of the Green Family Foundation, The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, Bucks County, Wells Fargo, and the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency. Financing was provided by Firstrust Bank.
“Access to safe and affordable housing is essential to the health and vitality of our communities,” said Tim Abell, CEO and President of Firstrust Bank. “Firstrust is proud to help expand this access for seniors in Bucks County through the Daniel B. Green House. It’s an honor to pay tribute to Daniel B. Green’s leadership and legacy by contributing to building a stronger, more inclusive community.”
