A Friday-night staple in Royersford has officially gone statewide.
Spring-Ford High School’s boys soccer concession stand, home of the now-legendary Kenney Burger, has been named the 2025 winner of the Beef’s Best Concession Stand Contest. The honor is awarded by the Pennsylvania Beef Council in partnership with the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association.
What started as one parent’s idea to upgrade the snack bar quickly turned into a Montco phenomenon. Parent volunteer Dan Kenney swapped pre-made options for made-to-order smash burgers, firing up his own grill and serving fresh-ground beef with a signature sauce and crispy, lacy edges. The response was immediate and overwhelming.
Within just three home games, Spring-Ford’s soccer snack stand had already surpassed the entire previous year’s concession sales. Fans lined up for classics and a growing “secret menu,” including crowd favorites like The Oklahoma Oinker and the OK OK, topped with a fried egg. The unofficial slogan? “Fueling Champions Since 2018.”
Beyond flavor, the burgers have helped fund scholarships, support local food pantries, and build community around the program. The school received a $250 cash prize, a commemorative plaque, a banner, and team gear.
