The Resilient Students Network, based in Pottstown, works to assist local college students by providing help with food insecurity, housing needs, and other essential challenges they face, reports Matteo Iadonisi for 6abc.
“The Resilient Students Network was founded in 2019, and we started programming in 2022,” said Wendy Gaynor, Executive Director of the Resilient Students Network. “There was a significant basic needs crisis among college students not only in our region, but really across the United States.”
The organization fulfills its mission by offering food access programs, housing assistance that supports students in preventing eviction, transportation resources, help with the cost of books and internet, as well as offering additional forms of support.
The aim is for students to “continue their academic path, and ultimately improve their life outcomes,” said Gaynor.
Among other partnerships, the Resilient Students Network works with the Stock Up for Success food pantry at Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell, providing additional food to qualifying students every other week.
“It helps the students in a variety of ways,” said Gaynor, including “they’re able to pick up the food right here at their school with help from Manna on Main Street.”
