The choir at Notre Dame de Lourdes School in the Swarthmorewood section of Ridley Township is this year’s winner of the B101 2025 K-8th Grade Christmas Choir competition, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.
The school’s music program will receive $5,000 from the win. The choir will also perform their winning song, “Like It’s Christmas,” at the Philly Pops: A Philly Holiday Spectacular on Sunday, Dec. 14, at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia.
They will next perform the song live in the B101 studio at 8:45 AM on Monday, Dec. 15.
The 22 singers in grades 5-8 will be further recognized by B101 radio personality Kathy Romano at the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s “2025 Winter Tour: The Ghost of Christmas Eve,” on Sunday, Dec. 21, at the Wells Fargo Center.
“Our school choir hit all the right notes in the B101 Choir Competition,” said Principal Diana Pileggi. “Our choir competed with schools that have almost 1,000 students, so I couldn’t be any prouder of them!”
The Notre Dame Choir is under the direction of music teacher and lifelong Delaware County resident Angela Wertner. She resurrected the choir after the pandemic, following a long lapse.
