New Year’s Eve in Hatboro To Feature Debut of ‘Hat Drop’

To ring in the new year, Hatboro Borough is launching a new tradition with the inaugural “Hat Drop,” set to be held on York Road on New Year’s Eve, writes Dino Ciliberti for the Patch.

The hat has been custom-designed and manufactured by Royson Engineering. The festivities will kick off at 4 p.m. on December 31 at the intersection of York Road and Moreland Avenue.

With the introduction of the Hat Drop, Hatboro joins a growing list of Pennsylvania communities embracing creative ways to celebrate the New Year. Notable traditions elsewhere in the state include the drop of a giant Hershey’s Kiss in Hershey, a steel mushroom in Kennett Square, a Bologna in Palmyra, and a shoe in Akron.

Beyond these quirky drops, towns across Pennsylvania host fireworks shows, have live entertainment, and family-friendly parties, such as First Night in Pittsburgh and large-scale New Year’s celebrations in the Lehigh Valley, all attracting crowds who are eager to welcome the year with excitement and fun.
