Bryn Mawr’s own Kat Dennings has spent two decades proving she’s far more than a sharp comedic delivery and deadpan charm, writes Raquel Lekic for Woman’s World.
Dennings’ path began early, with commercials and a breakout appearance on Sex and the City before landing a starring role in Raising Dad with Bob Saget. But those early years were far from easy.
In recent interviews, she’s recalled the harsh, exclusionary audition culture she faced as a preteen actor. Dennings received feedback that would have pushed many young performers out of the industry entirely. Instead, Dennings pushed forward.
Her persistence paid off. She built a steady résumé across hit shows like Without a Trace, ER, and CSI: NY. Her films include The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. She became a household name with her six-season run as Max on 2 Broke Girls. She later gained new fans through roles in Dollface and Marvel’s WandaVision.
Now, in Shifting Gears, Dennings brings her comedic rhythm to a family-forward series about clashing personalities, second chances, and the messy charm of unconventional households.
