Kat Dennings grew up in a historic Bryn Mawr home with a little extra company—ghosts, writes Natalia Senanayake for People.
But according to her, they weren’t the scary kind. In fact, one even saved her mom from a nasty fall.
During a March 17 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the Shifting Gears star recalled how her childhood home, which dates back to the 1600s, was officially marked as a historic site—and was “beautifully, extremely haunted.”
“There were a lot of things that happened there,” Dennings told Hudson, before sharing the most chilling story. One day, her mother tripped on their basement stairs, which were notoriously rickety and shallow. As she tumbled forward, she was suddenly stopped mid-air and placed back upright.
“I swear to God,” Dennings said, shuddering at the memory of a ghost saving her mom from the fall.
Hudson, wide-eyed, quipped, “At least y’all had good ghosts.”
Dennings agreed, saying the spirits were mostly playful—occasionally flinging CDs across the room when her music got too loud or flickering the lights for fun. A lifelong Halloween fan and Wednesday Addams enthusiast, she admitted she was always open-minded about the supernatural.
