Maria Bello was born in Norristown. Atop a television acting career (NCIS), her film work included drama (Coyote Ugly) and action (The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor).
Kat Dennings grew up in Bryn Mawr. Her 2 Broke Girls role earned her a 2014 People’s Choice nomination, and she was part of the comic book saga Thor.
Abington-born Matthew Fox won a 2006 Screen Actors Guild ensemble award for work on the ABC adventure drama Lost. Before that, he spent six years on Party of Five for FOX.
The Lawrence Brothers (Andrew, Matthew, and Joey) were child actors from Abington. Joey got his start in Gimme a Break; Matthew was in Mrs. Doubtfire; Andrew, the youngest, voiced a character on Disney’s Recess.
In the sports world, Norristown was the birth site of Mike Piazza, baseball player for teams that included the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets. He recently competed on the FOX boot-camp reality show Special Forces.
