Abington is celebrating one of its own, writes Dino Ciliberti for Patch.
The Pennsylvania State Soccer Coaches Association named Randy Garber, head coach of the Abington High School boys’ soccer team, the 2025 W. Gene Davis Memorial Coach of the Year in the AAAA classification.
The distinction is among the most demanding honors in Pennsylvania high school athletics. According to PSCA Coach of the Year chairman Scott Bonagura, candidates must demonstrate deep knowledge of the game, uphold the sport’s highest ideals, and maintain strong relationships with players, officials, and fellow coaches.
Community involvement beyond the high school program is also a key factor. This is something Garber has long been known for within the Abington School District and the wider Montgomery County soccer community.
Garber will receive the award on January 31 at the PSCA Honors and Awards Banquet in Harrisburg, where coaches from across the state gather to recognize excellence in the sport.
