The Philadelphia region will shine a little brighter this winter, thanks to a lineup of beloved holiday light attractions supported by PECO. From historic Center City traditions to immersive suburban displays, these sparkling showcases invite families and friends to step into the season together.
Historic Grandeur at Wanamaker Light Show
Since its 1956 debut, the Wanamaker Light Show Presented by PECO has been a holiday pilgrimage for families in the region. The grand atrium of the historic Wanamaker Building comes alive with more than 100,000 LED lights dancing across a four-story-high velvet curtain, set to the thunderous tones of the famed Wanamaker Organ.
Visitors can catch shows every hour on the half-hour, from Nov. 28 through Dec. 24, and explore Dickens Village, a 6,000-square-foot walk-through experience that transports visitors to 1840s London with 26 heart-warming scenes from A Christmas Carol.
Waterfront Magic at Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest
Right along the Delaware River, the annual RiverRink Winterfest transforms the waterfront into a winter wonderland. There’s ice skating on a full-sized rink, fire-pit lounges, cozy cabins, a towering holiday tree, a Ferris wheel, and breathtaking views of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.
PECO plays a key role, with the Holiday Tree Lighting Powered by PECO kicking off Dec. 5 with performances and a glow-up of the waterfront’s centerpiece tree.
Sparkling City-Park at Electrical Spectacle Light Show
Tucked in the heart of Old City at Franklin Square, the Electrical Spectacle Light Show is a free, lively display presented by PECO, with hundreds of thousands of dancing lights, vibrant music, and a glowing kite-inspired centerpiece above the fountain.
Running nightly through early January, it’s a go-to for families, photo seekers, and those hoping to soak in a bit of holiday sparkle without breaking the bank.
Nature Meets Lights at Wild Lights at Elmwood Park Zoo
In Norristown, Elmwood Park Zoo invites visitors to wander a walk-through light experience known as Wild Lights. Guest nights begin in late November; this year, more lights, more animal-themed displays, and live entertainment take center stage.
Wild Lights is a suburban, family-friendly outing that blends the magic of lights with the wildlife ambiance of the zoo — and is an alternative to the more urban displays.
Drive-Through Delight at Holiday Light Show at Shady Brook Farm
In Yardley, Shady Brook Farm’s Holiday Light Show offers a spectacular drive-through experience: more than three million lights illuminating acres of farmland, with options for wagon rides, private parties, and campfires.
The show is perfect for those who want a relaxed, car-based light adventure — ideal for families, groups, or anyone keen to stroll or drive through a winter spectacle beyond the city.
This holiday season, PECO’s support underlines connection, community, and tradition. Whether you’re skating beneath a waterfront tree, chewing on cotton candy at a light show, or handing hot cocoa to an awestruck child under thousands of bulbs, the story remains the same.
Winter in the Philadelphia region is brighter with these shared experiences.
So, bundle up, pick your favorite locale, and step into the glow of the season. Thanks in part to PECO, the region is ready to shine.
