Penn Medicine is planting deeper roots in Montgomery County, writes Harold Brubaker for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The health system has officially broken ground on a $270 million outpatient center in Montgomeryville — a project aimed at bringing top-tier care closer to home.
Slated to open in late 2027, the 162,000-square-foot facility at 200 DeKalb Pike will bridge a coverage gap between Penn’s Radnor location and its newly acquired Doylestown Hospital. For Montgomery County residents, it means easier access to a broad spectrum of services — from routine check-ups to advanced cancer treatments.
The new Montgomeryville site will feature specialties like radiation oncology and chemotherapy, offered through the Abramson Cancer Center. Patients can also expect services in primary care, women’s health, heart and vascular, orthopedics, neuroscience, and surgical consultations.
“We’re not just enhancing accessibility,” said Kevin Mahoney, CEO of the University of Pennsylvania Health System. “We’re transforming the entire treatment journey.”
The investment marks a significant boost for local healthcare infrastructure, easing travel burdens for patients who might otherwise have to trek to Philly or the Main Line. For Montgomery County families, it’s a welcome sign that world-class care is moving in next door.
