Penn Medicine bought the undeveloped property at 200 Dekalb Pike, between Welsh and Knapp roads in Montgomeryville, to build an outpatient care center, writes John George for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The health system paid $7.5 million for the 12 acres of land.

Penn Medicine Montgomeryville will be a four-story, 150,000-square-foot facility with an adjoining parking garage.

The center will offer a variety of services including primary care, women’s health, heart care, lab testing, radiology imaging, radiation and infusion therapy for cancer patients, outpatient surgery, and urgent care.

In the beginning, the proposed project drew concern from residents living next to the site in the Gwynmont Farms section of Montgomery Township. They were worried about how the new center would impact traffic and wildlife in the area.

No specific dates have been set for when construction will begin or be completed. Penn has similar outpatient care centers in Radnor, Cherry Hill, Valley Forge, southern Chester County, University City, and Center City.
