Nightmare in New Hope offers Bucks County residents a way to experience the creepy side of Hollywood right in their own backyard, reports Amanda Brady for abc7.
Owner Joseph Gioconda has been collecting props and costumes from mostly horror movies and television shows for over two decades.
“I believe that movies and television shows are the new, most accessible art form for really everyone,” he said. “If you think about it, we all have a shared culture. And the shared culture we have these days mostly are movies and television shows. And horror movies, I think people have really distinct memories of them.”
As a huge fan of horror movies, Gioconda wanted to share his extensive collection with others, which led him to open Nightmare in New Hope last year.
“I wasn’t able to share them in person,” he said. “I thought it might be fun to share them with people, fellow fans. And what I found was people were really starving for that experience. There is very little out there like this.”
His gallery features props from many horror classics that range from “Friday the 13th” and “The Conjuring” to “Scream” and beyond.
