A Montgomery County military family was touched by a random act of kindness from an anonymous couple and hopes to thank them for the unexpected gift, write Deanna Durante and Emily Rose Grassi for NBC 10 Philadelphia.

Aaron Williams-Higgins was returning from a walk with her dog last week when the building’s receptionist handed her a card left for an active military family.

“It was just a super generous act of kindness,” she said.

The card contained an encouraging message thanking the family for their service along with $500 in cash. Williams-Higgins was both shocked and grateful that she and her husband, an active military member, were chosen for this act of kindness. She added that the gesture means a great deal, particularly during the government shutdown, the financial impact of which remains uncertain.

The couple will pay it forward by using part of the money to purchase books for children in need.

“I just want to thank them, so much, and maybe inspire someone else to pay it forward,” said Williams-Higgins. “I feel that your act of kindness was a rare occurrence in such a dark world sometimes.”
